10 Films I Hate That Critics Love And 10 Films I Love That Critics Hate. According to Rotten Tomatoes. Page 2

I may have cheated here a little and have more than 10 movies but they are part of the same franchise and had trouble choosing which one i liked the most so deal with it i guess. This is my blog i’m doing it my way…Let us begin.

P.s. I also tried to include movies i have not seen on other lists out there on the worldwide web this was so hard to narrow it down to only ten so i used that fact to help me out a little. Enjoy.

10 Films I Love that Critics Hated.

Number 10: Little Nicky.

Rotten Tomatoes Scores:

Critic: 22%

Audience: 56%

Okay from a reviewer standpoint this ticks all the boxes that it’s a bad movie. However I saw this as a kid and every time i watch it, it makes me laugh. Adam Sandler is Comedy gold here not to mention his sidekick Beefy who is probably the best part about the movie. The CGI is terrible, the acting and dialogue is cheesy as hell and some of the reasons I like it contradicts reasons on why I hate some of the previous films, but I love every second of this movie…is Nostalgia a big part of that…You’re goddamn right. Nostalgia is going to be mentioned a lot here. Get used to it, if you have a problem with it then you can “Get in the Flask”.

Number 9: The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou.

Rotten Tomatoes Scores:

Critic: 56%

Audience: 82%

Wes Anderson…A critically acclaimed filmmaker loved by millions he rakes in the awards and yet The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou remains one of his greatest in my opinion and yet it’s so under appreciated and relatively unknown to the people who i know love Wes Anderson. I don’t know what there is to hate about this movie. It ticks all the boxes of a great Wes Anderson movie: 1) A Stacked and talented cast. 2) Unique Wes style visuals. 3) A great story with great characters and much much more. Honestly if you have not seen this go and watch it now. The less i say the better you will find it.

Number 8: Batman V Superman.

Rotten Tomatoes Scores:

Critic: 28%

Audience: 62%

Say what you want about this movie…but in my eyes it’s pretty much everything i wanted it’s not a prefect movie by all means but it does not deserve the backlash and hate that it gets the films revolves around Batman and Superman and it gets those characters right Batman is brutal and Superman is torn between his humanity and morals and it tells us a story that a absolutely loved Ben Affleck is great as batman (A little biased as batman is my favorite superhero) and Henry Cavill takes the boring Character that is superman and give him a compelling arc that shows how hard it is to be a good person. As Lex Luthor says…If God is all good, he cannot be all powerful and if he is all powerful then he cannot be all good…Poetry. (P.s. I’m referring to the Extended version by the way)

Number 7: Kick Ass 2.

Rotten Tomatoes Scores:

Critic: 32%

Audience: 57%

This one puzzles me. I actually enjoyed this one more than the first one, yeah it’s a little more over the top, but its a comic book movie i’m pretty sure they are supposed to lean a little toward fantasy a little bit. This movie hits it home with jokes, great action and some emotional scenes that I was not expecting that totally caught me off guard. In all honesty the kick ass movies are awesome and it’s just a shame that this movie teased a sequel that we are probably never going to get now. That’s my only problem with this.

Number 6: Space Jam.

Rotten Tomatoes Scores:

Critic: 43%

Audience: 63%

Nostalgia is a wonderful thing. So much so that Space Jam gets added to a great movies list. I can tell why this movie was hated; Michael Jordan’s wooden acting, The Plot is bizarre but my god do I love it. For 1996 the special effects of merging live action with cartoon is pretty damn good and even though the entire film is a feature length advert for the NBA I will hands down be watching the second as many times as i have seen the first. Given that the sequel is a slam dunk.

Number 5: Super Troopers & Super Troopers 2.

Rotten Tomatoes Scores:

Critic: 35%      Critic: 34%

Audience: 90%      Audience: 65%

These movies are awesome stoner comedies that just tickle my funny bone, not all the jokes land but the ones that do leave me in absolute stitches and floods of tears (Especially the French-Canadian troopers gag its genius) and Nostalgia doesn’t even play into this i only watch the first one when the sequel was announced. I read that it had somewhat of a cult following and now I am proud to say I am part of that cult. I just wish that other Broken Lizard comedy group projects were as good as this…to be honest they’re pretty trash.

Number 4: Scooby Doo & Scooby Doo 2.

Rotten Tomatoes Scores:

Critic: 32%      Critic: 22%

Audience: 38%      Audience: 39%

Nostalgia, i’m getting tired of using it but this is the last time I’m going to use it. Yes these films are terrible and it’s nothing like the original cartoon its filled with adult jokes and some less adult fart humour but its such a great watch i remember in the early 2000’s me sat in my living room loving these movies, i liked the second one a little bit more something i thought i was in the majority in…but clearly not , Spooky stuff.
(and Matthew Lillard as Shaggy is Perfection)

Number 3: Flubber.

Rotten Tomatoes Scores:

Critic: 24%

Audience: 33%

Robin Williams could carry any movie he was in, even if the movie was terrible and I was so surprised to learn that this movie isn’t loved on both audience and critic sides alike. I loved this movie as a kid and I love it more now that I’m an adult. I really don’t understand why people hate it so much. The only thing it has wrong with it is some questionable CGI but I can look past it for a good time with good ol’ Robin Williams, it still hurts me that he’s gone.

Number 2: Step Brothers.

Rotten Tomatoes Scores:

Critic: 55%

Audience: 69%

This movie is the most quoted movie in my entire back catalogue of movie quotes. If there is a situation where i can say a line from this movie i’m going to say it…and if people around me don’t get it then they “better not get up in my face, because i’ll drop that mother fucker” Every joke is comedy gold, every scene is comedy gold, every character is comedy gold this movie is a “Prestige” of a movie and doesn’t “Suck Camel Dick”

Number 1: The Cat in the Hat.

Rotten Tomatoes Scores:

Critic: 24%

Audience: 33%

This movie might as well be R-rated; it does not hold back on the adult themes so much that even as a kid i knew the jokes were inappropriate, I might not have understood them but i knew. That’s what makes it so good to me it’s absolutely hilarious even more now that i am an adult. I feel like most of the reviewers reviewed this as a kids movie but it is 100% not that. Honestly if you have never seen this film give it a watch its a shocker with what they actually put in here when the film is rated PG but he calls a Hoe a Dirty Ho and spells out the word ‘Shit’ honestly it’s great.
