Bloodshot Review and Nerdy Stuff

Bloodshot is a movie based on the Valiant comic book character of the same name and stars Vin ‘It’s All About The Family’ Diesel and a lot more people that i don’t care to mention because no one stood out as even remotely good in my opinion but we will get more on the that later.

The movie is directed by David S.F. Wilson in his directorial debut which to be fair to him he didn’t do too bad of a job when in comes to the ‘Look’ of this film it feels like a superhero movie in is own right and doesn’t feel like its taking too much from already existing Superhero cinematic universes such as Marvel and DC (For better and for worse) and the visual effects and the action is pretty well done and actually quite cool to look at.

That unfortunately is where most of the highs end. To cut a long story short I didn’t enjoy it as much as I wanted to. Bloodshot is a superhero i have never heard of and i wanted it to be something fresh i would thoroughly enjoy despite having no idea about any of it, similar to 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy. However that wasn’t the case, What we get is a film that can’t decide if it wants to be violent and gritty…Emotional and depressing…Or an action movie and/or a comedy

The worst part of this movie has to be the jokes. None of the jokes land…Sorry let me rephrase that, every joke lands…onto solid concrete, face first and unlike our main protagonist there is no getting back up after a fall like that. Every joke is a cheap, cheesy juvenile attempt at humour that attempts to break the fourth wall by explaining some of its cliches or ramming a dick joke in there. But I did learn something 6 inches isn’t a lot. (watch the movie and you’ll get what i mean)

The acting something else Vin Diesel walks around the screen doing what Vin Diesel does best playing Dom for the Fast Franchise. Seriously he plays the same character, even family is a motivation for him and he wears the same clothes and says the same things, he’s literally Dom. Everyone else is awful. Each character is either a villain that hates people for the sake of hating, Someone who cracks jokes 24/7 or just a plain Jane character that I forgot all about them after I left.

That all said, I don’t hate this movie i just dislike it, it’s not Batman and Robin levels of superhero bad. But at least that’s so bad it’s an hilariously good watch. This is just on the low end of average and i’m sure there are a lot of Easter eggs and nods to the comics that would make this a little more entertaining for the fans but for me it didn’t do much. You can at least tell a little that people  tried with the movie. It just didn’t quite work out.

They also butcher one of my favorite songs on a villian introduction that is the cringiest thing I’ve ever seen in a movie… they killed it, Psycho killer, qu’est-ce que c’est?

I don’t want to say anymore about this movie as I don’t want to hate on it too much as I wouldn’t like it if I made something bang average and someone tore it to pieces but there are so many mistakes made in this movie I was actually so disappointed.

One last thing there is a plot twist I didn’t see coming but I have read fans of the comic would expect it…and also the trailers apparently spoil everything.

Final Score.

Title:Average

Bloodshot never reaches the bar of superhero movies set by modern takes from the MCU and falls flat in most aspects. terrible jokes, mediocre acting and uneven story is just about saved by the visuals of this movie and some decent action scenes, just enough to think i didn’t waste my money.
